In Greek mythology, Selene, the goddess of the moon, is the sister of Helios (the Sun) and Eos (the dawn). She is generally described as a beautiful woman with a dazzlingly white face, clothed with long flowing robes.<\/p>\n

Auguste Moreau (1834 – 1917) was a French sculptor born in Dijon. The third and youngest son of sculptor and painter Jean-Baptiste Moreau, Auguste began creating sculptural works alongside his older brothers Hippolyte and Mathurin.<\/span><\/p>\n
