This Dr. Wall First Period Worcester teapot was hand-painted by James Giles, a prominent painter of Worcester porcelain, around 1765.
\nThe teapot and cover feature four panels with chinoiserie figures.
\nThe two panels on the teapot depict a young boy with his guardian, while the boys on the cover are depicted standing alone.
\nThe boy in the green robe holds a long-tailed songbird, while the other boy, dressed in an iron-red robe, holds a toy with a stick attached to a rope (possibly a toy whip).
\nThe caricature-like depiction of Chinese characters is typical in Giles’ porcelain painting during this period.
