The plate or Dish/bowl is well potted with an oval shape and moulded pattern to the outer rim edge.
The plate or dish / bowl has a white glaze with light blue tinge and has been carefully hand painted in a chinoiserie central pattern in bold colorful enamels over a transfer printed outline. Mason’s Ironstone made a very similar plate in the same pattern, called the Bamboo and Basket pattern. This plate is also hand decorated to the outer rim edge in brown and turquoise enamel detail
The plate is fully marked to the base with a Royal Arms mark having “Genuine Folchs Stone China” in the banner below, all printed in blue. A Plate in this pattern is illustrated on Page 243, plates 186 a & b, of Godden’s Guide to Ironstone, by Geoffrey A Godden, published by The Antique Collectors’ Club.
Overall a very beautiful early English ironstone plate.
