The top interior of this English Chippendale secretary has three adjustable shelves and five drawers. The interior has a center prospect door flanked by two secret pullouts with carved fluted pilasters. The cubbyhole friezes on either side are also secret drawers. The top has a dentil cornice and the doors have recessed panels of flame grained mahogany framed with shaped moldings on the stiles and crossmembers. The lower section of the interior has six drawers with an ovolo shape and shaped cubbyhole dividers. Some of the hardware is later. The lower section has fluted quarter columns that terminate in ogee feet.
This piece open measures 34.25″ deep.
