Vintage Design
An antique chest of drawers from England that scores with beautiful details. It is made entirely of oak and is delicate. The feet with Barley Twist show the typical English style. All drawers are fitted with profile strips to create an unusual look and they taper towards the top in size. The original fittings, which are beautifully crafted in the shape of flowers, also contribute to the beauty of the front. Very rare, the key is still there. The surface has been sanded to give the furniture even more authenticity. Likewise the drawer cassettes. The chest of drawers has been waxed inside and out.
The cover plate was made from 2 plates at the time and these have now become slightly loose. I left this state as it is because it shows and conveys a life lived. There is also a shrinkage crack on the right side. Otherwise there are signs of age and wear of an antique piece of furniture. The color of the upper drawer is a bit different, as a different oak board appears to have been used than for the lower drawers.
