Antique English walnut Chippendale tea warmer ~ jardinière is a fascinating ode to a bygone era! Lovingly hand carved from luxurious walnut imported from France, it features a stylized relief carving on the boldly scrolled legs that displays an obvious Baroque style influence. Featuring cast brass handles on each side, it also sports a brass insert that was designed to hold hot coals inside upon which one would place a separator, usually a ceramic plate, then a teapot. This would allow hosts and hostesses to keep the tea warm and in the very room in which they were entertaining, ready to serve! Ideal as a centerpiece jardinière!
