Rare American Chippendale serving table having a magnificent block front mahogany top with a moulded edge, one drawer to the centre with very grand original brass swan neck handles and escutcheon. It boasts a stunning block front with an expertly carved and shaped mahogany frieze standing on fabulous unusual scrolled shaped and carved cabriole legs with claw and ball feet.

This is truly an extraordinary handsome example. The elegant proportions and extremely high quality of design and craftsmanship are very evident making this a rare piece.

Very fine George III mahogany serving table attributed to Thomas Chippendale, the well figured serpentine top with deep under molding, the apron with central tablet featuring a carved snake handled urn with guttae drops, the apron with carved patera and foliate carved molding, the leg with fluted panels with pin hole details over tapering forms with carved money pattern and fluting and ending in spade feet, the whole with great surface and rich patination, the underside and back with distinctive red wash.
Provenance: Vernay and Jussel
The Chippendale firm supplied several known serving tables of this form, all slightly different, for such commissions as Paxton House and Goldborough Hall.
