The Primal lounge chair, a quintessential masterpiece from Egg Designs that stands as an icon of contemporary design. Versatile and striking, it seamlessly integrates into Minimalist, Modern, or Mid-century modern interiors with effortless grace.

Upholstered in white leather upholstery, this chair embodies the pioneering spirit of Egg’s creations. Its solid brass cast legs, the hallmark of this piece, are meticulously sand-cast by skilled artisans in Portugal and hand-polished to perfection. The unique wood grain finish, inherent to the casting process, adds a distinctive touch of authenticity.

   

A fantastic pair of antique Swedish leather club armchairs. They were recently imported from Sweden, we would date them to around the 1910-20 period.

The quality is outstanding, they are generous in proportion, well sprung and are extremely comfortable. They have beautiful curves, and sit on solid oak legs.

The condition is excellent for their age, with a gorgeous colour and patina, there is just some normal surface wear and crazing to the leather on the front of one arm. We have had them revived and enhanced by our leather restorer, the legs have been re-polished. There is just one tiny repair to the very lower back edge, barely noticeable and seen in the close up images.

Albrecht Lange and Hans Mitzlaff – Mannheim with Bengt Åkerblom (Sweden) were created for Eugen Schmidt -Soloform Darmstadt.

Akerblom contributed the ergonomic back bend to the design, which from then on also found its way into design history as the Akerblom bend, and is also marked here with a plaque on the chair frame.
However, the actual design came from Albrecht Lange and Hans Mitzlaff for the Eugen Schmidt -Soloform manufacturer in Darmstadt.

To Dr. Bengt Waldemar Akerblom:
April 11, 1901 – August 15, 1990
Bengt Akerblom is one of those designers who was inspired and influenced by human ergonomics. It wasn’t his style to bring a plain chair onto the market without a suitable seating function.
He did pioneering work. His study on the consequences of sitting work was published in 1948 in the diploma thesis “Standing and sitting posture” by the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm.
Akerblom spent 11 years researching hundreds of test subjects and numerous seat frames until, after many years of research, he found the ideal design. This is reflected in a slight kink in the back area of ​​his designs and models – which made design history as the Akerblom kink.

The Roro armchair from Brühl is covered in cream-colored genuine leather and stands on silver metal feet. It is characterized by the comfortable sleeping function and the bright, stylish design.

A stunning mid century ‘manhattan’ ‘low backed’ lounge chair designed by Guy Rodgers during the 1960s. The low backed lounge chair is in excellent condition. The teak frame, legs & arms have all been refurbished & the back & seat professionally recovered in Camira fabric in a beautiful blue. The lounge chair webbing has also been replaced. A leather and Beech Scandinavian easy chair by Arne Vodder for Fritz Hansen (model 7801). Vodder designed the chair for Hansen in the 1960’s. His wonderful take on a wingback easy chair, provides a large sitting area and just enough of that enveloped feeling from the wings. Made out of solid wood it is extremely sturdy and as with all Fritz Hansen pieces, the quality is second to none. Wonderfully patinated, the original cognac leather is perfectly set off by the lighter Beech legs.
