4 drawer chest with leather fronted drawers, ribbed mahogany sides and brass gallery. Circa 1920.

Baroque chest of drawers veneered in walnut, Piedmont, early 18th century. Shaped top embellished with olive wood border, front of four drawers decorated with cherry tiles, also present on the sides. Rounded uprights, chains and moldings of the top and drawers in ebonized wood. Poplar interior. Handles replaced.

Louis XVI style chest of drawers in walnut and briar, richly decorated with maple threads and inlays in different wood essences. The dresser is equipped with three drawers, a finely inlaid wooden top and is supported by four inverted truncated pyramid feet which are also inlaid.

Antique English Oak Coffer. Early 18th century & later coffer, simple vernacular design with planked hinged lid on later hinges, four fielded panels to the front on stile legs. Dimensions: 117cm x 51.5cm x 72cm. Condition: Solid condition, age and wear commensurate with age, later alterations to the top of the lid, later hinges, later straps to the lid and alterations to the back, evidence of old historic woodworm – this has been treated as a precaution.

Late 17th Century Oak Chest of Drawers. A late seventeenth century English oak chest of drawers, four long drawers with mouldings & brass drop handles & stud decoration on stile legs. Dimensions: 98cm wide x 59cm deep x 90cm high Condition: Solid condition, all the drawers run fine, historic repairs to the drawer runners, historic repairs to the top, later and slightly different handles.

A Very Fine Anglo-Chinese Teak Travelling Chest Made for Leonce Routh, Veteran Soldier and Deputy Commissary General of Bermuda c.1845.

Provenance:

Made for Leonce Routh Esq., (1820-1905) when he was Deputy Commissary General. Upon his death in 1905 it was given to Amand Jules Mcconnel Routh MD, b.1853 d.18 December 1927 by his four cousins.

Made of quality teak of excellent colour and figure, this chest is heavily bound with wrought iron strapwork mounts and corner pieces. Attached to the piece, which is of particularly large size, are two brass plaques which record the information mentioned in the provenance section above.

A Mid 18th Century Italian Walnut Commode of Double Serpentine Oxbow Shape and Exceptional Colour.

This lovely commode has wonderful rococo lines. The shape is frequently called double serpentine or oxbow. The top of the piece has a wide walnut crossbanding. The commode features three drawers of equal size and complex shape.

Each of the drawers retains the original cast ormolu escutcheon plates which are beautifully rendered as assymetrical rococo cartouches with fine floral details. The drawer fronts, like the top, employ crossbanding, stringing and bookmatching. The sides of the piece have veneers that are quartered and matched, creating a parquetry diamond effect. Standing on a moulded base with refined bracket feet.

This is a lovely example of Italian rococo furniture which has a magnificent colour.
