Chippendale Style Large Carved Upholstered Cocktail Ottoman. A fine example of a large carved mahogany ottoman with traditional upholstered surface. Very useful as an ottoman to put your feet up or as a cocktail ottoman, coffee table or the centre piece of the room.
The ottoman features a sturdy mahogany frame, known for its rich colour and durability. The wood carving depicts maritime motifs and leaves, which are intricately detailed and skillfully executed, reflecting the craftsmanship of the period.
The Chippendale style was known for its incorporation of naturalistic motifs inspired by flora and fauna. Fish heads, along with other animal and plant motifs, were used to add visual interest and organic beauty to furniture pieces. They represented the era’s fascination with the natural world and the desire to bring elements of nature into the home.
The upholstery fabric is red with a yellow/gold pattern and the red leather buttons accentuate the deep tufting.
This is a fine representation of the Chippendale style and can be obtained as a stand alone piece or with the matching arm chair available at this time.
