Rare art ceramic figure of the 1920s: depiction of a young musician dressed as pierrette, sitting on a pedestal with her lute, wearing a wide red costume with knee-length harem pants and particularly large beige ruff, the garments decorated with colored borders, the left leg slung over the right, holding with the right hand the lute placed on the hip. The figure sitting on a cuboid is based on another square flat base with rounded corners and edges, artist’s signature ‘thomasch’ on the back of the base. Designed by wilhelm thomasch (1893 – 1964), who was an academic sculptor and ceramic artist, operations manager at goldscheider vienna, from 1926 had his own production in sierndorf. Thomasch designed this model circa 1922. Rare goldscheider ceramic of the 1930s: the standing young variety dancer is only dressed in a headdress and high heels. Looking to the left over her shoulder, she covers herself in front with a large green fan which she holds in her right hand, on her back in her left hand she holds a long green cloth with a white lace pattern against her hip, which, like a veil, rests on the floor behind her. On a black, fluted rectangular base with beveled corners. Designed by stephan dakon (1904 – 1992), one of the most important designers who worked for the goldscheider manufactory from 1924 until the mid-fifties. Dakon designed this model circa 1928/29. Excellent large and rare meissen figurine group from the 19th century: the winged zephyr, the gentle wind god, and flora, goddess of vegetation and blossom, loosely wrapped in cloths, standing side by side, flora placing a long garland of blossoms around her husband’s hips, embracing him, while her other hand rests on his chest, he holding the other end of the garland connecting them and lovingly touching his spouse’s chin with the index finger of his free hand. Based on a stepped, fluted square base with gold rims. Flora in roman mythology, flora is the goddess of blossom, in particular the blossom of grain. She is pursued in spring by the embodiment of the west wind zephyr and made his wife. She belongs to the circle of the vegetation gods, the gods of earth and agriculture, and is related to ceres, demeter and tellus. Her worship can be traced among the oscians and sabellian tribes of the central apennines. Flora was also the goddess of youth and the joyful enjoyment of life, and finally of pregnancy, whose symbol is the flower. Zephyr is one of the anemoi, a wind deity from greek mythology who embodies the (mild) west wind and was worshipped in antiquity as a messenger of spring and ‘ripener of seeds’. (wikipedia) modeller: christian gottfried juechtzer (1752 – 1812) was a famous sculptor and modeler of the meissen manufactory, born in meissen as the son of a porcelain painter. From 1769 he worked in the factory, initially as an apprentice and student of kaendler. Juechtzer succeeded m. V. Acier in 1781, and in mid-1790 he was given supervision of the work. In 1794 he became a master modeller. Juechtzer specialized in the design of bisque porcelain. The model i 10 was created in 1786.
