Founded in the mid-19th century by Charles de Marnyhac, the company employed expert designers and craftsmen, specializing in the creation of luxury goods. The Maison Marnyhac won a medal at The Exposition Universalle of 1878, where they competed with prestigious companies, such as Barbedienne. This clock face is signed ‘McOn Marnyhac Paris Rue de la Paix’.

The clock consists of a stepped rectangular body which is topped by a Grecian style urn. The piece has been crafted in gilt bronze, whilst the body and lid of the urn have been veneered in lapis lazuli, the deep blue colored gemstone. The lapis lazuli veneer is a later addition to the clock.

Supported on elegant gilt metal feet, the clock features a central face, with Roman numeral numbers, enclosed in royal blue enamel medallions. Either side are cloisonne enamel yellow plaques, which are decorated with intricate foliate patterns, and contained within gilt bronze frames. Two similar plaques are found above them, on the shoulders of the clock. Two handles, which take the form of laurel branches, are fixed to the sides of the piece.

The Grecian urn that crowns the clock has been beautifully decorated with egg and dart detailing, swirling motifs and acanthus leaves on its stem. The body of the urn is encircled by a cloissone enamel band of similar design to the lower plaques. It is finished with twin handles, which are ornamented with classicising rings and female masks. A gilt acorn finial surmounts the removable lapis lazuli lid.

French, Late 19th Century
Clock: Height 46cm, width 23cm, depth 18cm
Candelabra: Height 44.5cm, width 22cm, depth 20cm

This unusual three-piece clock garniture combines stunning pink marble with ormolu classicised decoration. Featuring ornate pierced gilt brass hands, the porcelain dial of the mantel clock is framed with a floral motif that complements the tones of the marble. The clock is covered with elegant gilt-bronze classical decoration: surmounting the dial is an ormolu torch and laurel cresting, whilst the case is flanked by two hoof-footed caryatids, whose bodies are decorated with acanthus leaves. Two further hoofed feet adorn the front and back of the clock.

The marble case is of an unusual deep pink shade, with pleasing veining throughout. The body of the clock is urn-shaped, with particularly fine fluting on the neck. The clock is surmounted by an ormolu finial, whilst the plinth features expertly cast drapery between four toupie feet. Both the finial and plinth feature further acanthus motifs.

The two flanking candelabra feature similar designs, with pink marble bodies alongside ormolu caryatids and plinths. One light fixture sits atop the ormolu stem, whilst three further capitals sit atop curling arms. The light fixtures also feature classically inspired foliate decoration.

The dial also features a retailer’s mark, which reads ‘Mercery & Cie 12 Rue du Parc Royal Paris’.

With its unusual pink colour and exquisite classicised elements, this three-piece set would make a wonderful addition to the appropriate interior space.

Hunting wall clock with Roman numerals. The body of the clock is richly carved from solid oak. At the bottom is a mercury thermometer.
This antique clock is a wonderful example of hunter style, made around 1900 from solid oak. Their detailed craftsmanship and added thermometer make these watches not only functional, but also an aesthetically appealing piece.

Material: Solid oak, which provides strength and durability, while giving the clock the natural beauty of wood.
Design: The watch is richly decorated with carved motifs, typical of the hunting style. At the top of the clock there is an intricately carved ornament that attracts attention and adds to the majesty.
-Dial: The watch face is round, with Roman numerals on white labels that contrast with the dark wood. The hands of the clock are golden and richly decorated, which underlines the historical and luxurious look. A big advantage is the very good readability of the clock.
– Clockwork: winding winding with pendulum, striking into a spring spiral
– Thermometer: A thermometer in degrees Celsius is integrated in the lower part of the clock. The thermometer is set in a carved frame that matches the overall design of the watch.
– Decoration: The watch is decorated with hunting motifs, including carved leaves and other natural elements that symbolize the traditional hunting lifestyle.

These clocks are an ideal choice for lovers of antiques and historical furniture, who appreciate both their aesthetic value and practical use. They are suitable as a distinctive decorative element in any interior, where they become the central point of attention.

Condition: functional and complete. The thermometer also works. Without the wormhole.
