Fine Italian Carrara marble of a Nymph. The figure stood upon a rocky plinth partially nude with a draped robe seen pouring water from a large urn as she looks on. The beautiful carving made in white ‘Carrara’ marble circa 1870 from Italian origin.
Notes In Greek mythology a nymph was regarded as a form of female divinities. The nymphs were usually associated with nature. They were not immortal but were extremely long-lived and often portrayed in this form.
