Vintage Design
Ultra rare pair of early 416 chairs, designed by Wim Rietveld and Andre Cordemeijer in 1957 for Gispen.
This was the first Dutch polyester chair. It was made of one piece of moulded polyester, a new technique for the Dutch furniture market.
The seat is supported by a tubular solid metal frame with rubber shockmounts.
The chairs were painted in red and after long and hard work, a professional polyester specialist was able to remove all the red paint and get them back in their original light grey colour again. The metal frames are newly powder coated in its original colour grey.
Very hard to find these chairs, especially in a pair.
The chairs are in good condition. Some patina visible on the seats.
