A John Hancock Chippendale style secretary desk made by Henkel Harris, of Winchester, Virginia, USA. Solid mahogany with brass hardware, crown molding at the top, and ogee bracket feet. Upper lighted display bookcase, with dimmer in a hinge, features an upper adjustable wood encased glass shelf & a lower fixed wood encased glass shelf, both with plate grooves, behind dual lockable doors with solid beveled glass panes. Lower desk has a lockable slant drop-front desk lid which rests on pull-out side supports, behind which are several cubbies & drawers as well as a secret hiding place for valuables. Under the desk lid are four larger lockable drawers. All drawers are of dovetail construction. Includes three keys. Two piece construction. Made circa 1993.
