About Fratelli Testolini from : La ditta dei Fratelli Testolini (Pubblicato per Ateneo Veneto , Venezia, anno CCIII, terza serie, 15/1 (2016)
“The Testolini Brothers Company was active in Venice in the applied arts betweenthe mid 19th century and the early decades of the 20th century. Its initial pro-duction of virtuosic furniture was quickly flanked by mosaics, glass, porcelain, marble and wood sculptures, textiles and lace. The Company became the most important activity in its industry in the Venetian area, thanks also to a keen en-trepreneurial strategy, which involved the fusion (carried out quite early in time) with the Salviati Company: this collaboration brought the Testolini products tobe sold in every part of the world. The Testolini Brothers won many medals atInternational Expositions and received many notes of commendation; they wereassigned the title of Knights, and afterwards the important honour of Officersof the Order of the Crown, for the improvements and progress in Venetian industry.
As can be seen from their advertising propaganda, even if their purpose was not to satisfy a limited and elite clientele, they still had important admirers: in fact, in addition to the Italian and Spanish crowns, illustrious personalities who bought their products were the Count Pecci , the Rothschilds, Otto Dix, HelenaRubinstein, Franz Jonas, Indira Gandhi, and Henri Matisse, only to savor some of them”.
