A Rare Anglo-Indian Stag Antler Writing Slope Table Top Desk. Late 19th century. The whole veneered in stag antler. The top section opens to reveal a fitted area with pen tray and and glass inkwells, which are possibly a replacement. The writing slope with green velvet and beautiful Vizagapatam inlay to its perimeter. Vizagapatam is the term used to describe pieces made by Indian craftsmen around the town of the same name on the Coromandel Coast of India (modern day Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh). The slope also lifts up to reveal further storage. When opened the depth is 57cm.
