The jug has the Hydra shape with the snake heads handle with lower spur.
This jug has one of the very decorative and sought after oriental, Chinoiserie patterns called the ” Water Lily”, as documented on page 136 of A Guide to Mason’s Patent ironstone patterns, circa 1813-1848, published by The Masons Collectors’ Club. The pattern is hand-painted in bold enamels over a printed under-glaze blue outline with additional gilded highlighting, particularly to the handle which has a dark Mazarine blue ground.
The base of the Jug has the printed blue round crown mark, which dates this jug to circa 1880.
