A lovely pair of large Chinese ming style horseshoe lounge chairs made by Century Furniture. Originally designed by James Mont these chairs epitomize his over the top dramatic mid-century modern style with a unique Asian flare. Hardwood frames finished with black lacquer (lacquer isn’t terribly glossy). Accented by shiny brass embellishments. Excellent joinery and craftsmanship. Seats are upholstered in a spice velvet that shows some crush marks but is otherwise very good condition. Beautifully preserved from an estate on Chicago’s North Shore.
Can be viewed by appointment in Chicago.
